I gotta say the wikipedia article says it all. It is a super yummy winter soup, and I LOVE it! I do leave out the alcohol though. If you have any miso(ha ha ha), this is a great way to use it.

I also love the crazy ice cream flavors...like, pumpkin, corn and asparagus. Not for me so much, but because for some odd reason I don't feel guilty feeding Clark asparagus ice cream.

YUM... I may have to go the local Japanese restaurant to order one up. They also have a yummy Japanese hot pot.

Oh my gosh, the ice cream totally cracks me up! Here they have tofu and red bean and sesame! I don't have the guts to try it. How does the asparagus taste?

QS- shabu shabu or sukiyaki? Both sound really good right now.

Katie- They have red bean and sesame here too...oy I can't bring myself to eat them either. The asparagus tastes like...well asparagus, not that great...yuck. We have some other weird ones, like green tea, cherry blossom flavor, I think I've seen lychee too.
