The Saddest Birthday Cake

Sunday, July 13, 2008

I did it, the cake looked decent and tasted very good. There was just one problem. Edamame wanted to eat it REALLY bad, but it was Nemo, and so got so upset at the thought of eating him. He cried every time we suggested eating the cake. He even stuck his fork in to eat it and just started to cry and cry. Finally we cut a piece off together, stuck it on his fork with him, and after much crying and soothing he was ready to take a bite. He slowly got used to the idea of eating Nemo, but I think I know what NOT to do for a birthday cake next year, despite his great love of all things Nemo. We caught it on video, so once 007 loads it, I'll post it. He was just so sad! It was actually really hard not to laugh, but I felt so bad for the little guy.

Interestingly enough we had a similar problem a few months ago with fish shaped pudding, but I thought it might have been due to the late hour at the time. Nope, definitely a fish shaped thing.

Lol, poor guy! That's kind of funny, though. When we were planning for Maya's birthday, my Sister in law asked me what kind of pinata to get. I asked her not to get anything "alive" because nothing says fiesta like beating Elmo with a bat, lol.

Oh...I forgot - telling the girls "it's just like Nemo" usually gets them to eat the fish I make... weird huh... but they love the seafood - last night it as scallops provencal. ;-)mmmmm.
