...and getting kicked.

As promised, to make this whole blogging experience more fun, pictures!  First a trip down memory lane.  With grandma in town and a new baby on the way, it is time to reminisce about Edamame's beginnings.

Let me explain, fruit here comes with it's own little plastic thingy around it.  After many a sleep deprived night and on a fruit high, we decided to put a pear cozy on his head.

Fast forward 2.5 years and you'll get a similar result, only this time with a melon cozy.

He's been a busy boy, and we try to keep him that way.  He also entertains himself with large block buildings.  Look at the concentration!

Though at dinner time, Play-doh was once again the winner, and Edamame kept telling me that I was finished with dinner and needed to come and play. "Say gochisosama deshita mommy!  You all done!"

...and what post would be complete without the fun new duds we recieved!  Thank you so much Grandma and Grandpa N!  It may not look it from the picture, but Edamame was super excited to put the sweatshirt on.  Brass Knuckles will look super cute(and stay warm in out 45 degree house) in his threads too.

Brass Knuckles is moving in painful new ways, but is still staying where it is warm.  He's got 1 more day to come out, or else he has to wait until 007 gets home from CES.  EEK!

Grandma-claus is coming to town!

Monday, December 29, 2008

Yep,
Grandma is in town.  We're having lots of fun, and Edamame is totally obsessed with play-do right now(thank you Tenna and Andi!).  In baby news, after a VERY hard struggle, we've finally picked an English name.  We've been working on it of 22 weeks.  Now to find a Japanese name.  Then he can come out.  I'll try to take pictures soon, but right now I'm just trying to get my house in order.

To dispel the rumors.

I've gotten some comments about our Christmas card, which although I very much appreciate, I still feel the weird need to make sure people know the whole truth.  We took our Christmas picture about a month ago, so if you want to see what I *REALLY* look like now...here it is.

Hope everyone had a lovely day!  We sure did, it was even nice and warm.  Today on the other hand is FRICKIN' cold, and due to get colder.  Though I shouldn't complain after hearing about what is going on on the west coast.  Boy am I glad we didn't travel this year(though I'm bummed about missing all the after Christmas sales, especially with the awesome yen-dollar exchange rate right now).

Christmas Prep and Party

Thursday, December 25, 2008

We've been busy, but finally everyone is healthy, the presents have been opened, and this baby can be born(he was super busy last night, I swear he was having a going away dance party in utero).  I'll take you on a photographic journey of the last few days.

This was right before Edamame got sick.  One of the big kids down the street got a new bicycle for his birthday/Christmas so we inherited his old bike.  Edamame can't do anything but roll on it, but he LOVES it.

Here we are in the throes of recovery.  He was almost all better, so it was time to make Obaachan a bookmark for Christmas.
Someone was definitely having fun.

This morning we were still a little groggy when we started eating breakfast.

One of Edamame's stocking stuffers was a toy pink camera.  We missed the OHHHHH face he made when he saw it, but we did get a shot of him taking pictures.  After he opened a present he'd take a picture of it.  No matter what it was, it got it's picture taken.  The biggest hit of the day was the lego duplo zoo.  We couldn't seem to interest him in opening any other presents, and had to open them for him.

The tunnel was definitely very much appreciated though.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Merry Christmas

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

So the cards have been sent out, if you didn't get one in your inbox, then I don't have your email address.  Fortunately for you, I'm posting a copy here too!

I'll try to post every few days until Brass Knuckles comes, just so that there isn't too much speculation.  It has been harder with everyone sick though.  Edamame seems to be taking the longest to mend, but he also had the roughest time with this whole thing.  We got some cute pictures of him though, and if I get the last minute Christmas gifts made that I want to, then I'll post them.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas, Chanukah, or day off.  Also, please remember to wear a smile and spread the cheer!

I can't figure out how to imbed this, so you'll just have to follow the link.

I've been watching this between laundry loads

http://bewareofthedoghouse.com/videoPage.aspx

Thanks mom, that's hillarious!

'Tis the season

...to loose ones breakfast, lunch and then dinner.

Poor little guy has it bad, can hardly keep water down.  Thank goodness I still only have one to take care of for a bit longer.

Oh yeah, and in case you're wondering.  I'm still pregnant.

I also did 5 loads of laundry yesterday, and today's not looking much better.

Finally a kid that listens

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Yep, Brass Knuckles listened to his mommy and turned himself around.  Though I think he is spinning on a daily basis, but at least he had his head down while it was important.  Woo Hoo!

I'll take more pictures to make these posts more interesting.

...and now back to the waiting game.

oh...and

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

If you think you might need major abdominal surgery, DON'T go and look up all you can about it on the internet, including watching videos of it on babycenter.com.  You may think it is a good idea, but really it'll just freak you out.

Ignorance is bliss.

Child Labor

Well it seems Edamame is going to start doing his fare share around here.

See, evil mom, making him vacuum.  Ok so he actually begged to do it, and loved sucking up whatever I pointed out to him.  Then today he goes and wants to make his own PB & J.  I ended up doing the J part, but he did a fair amount of the PB.

Oh, and the other day I got a phone call from a professional photographer(friend of a friend that we randomly met a few weeks ago) asking him to model for a catalogue.  Talk about pulling his financial weight!
Isn't he the cutest pirate with pink boots.  "Mommy, I not a pirate!"

But just so you know, it isn't all work.  We've introduced him to the wonderful mind numbing world of iPhone games!
There is this one with singing pumpkins that he LOVES.  If he sees 007 playing with his iPhone he tries to grab it from him.  I like it 'cause it makes 007 not play with it as much.

As for mommy, I'm starting to go through the lounging on my butt phase.  This also means that our Christmas cards will be digital this year, so we'll be saving my sanity and we'll save the earth at the same time.  The sad thing is, this phase may be rather short lived.  Turns out Brass Knuckles has decided to turn himself around and was breech this morning at the Dr.'s office.  So, I'll try some exercises to turn him around, and we'll go back next week and see how he is.  Depending on how that goes, we may have a baby sooner than expected.  I don't want to give away the day, but the C-section day already decided if he hasn't turned.  That also meant lots of tests for me this morning, including getting my blood drawn a second time(much to the surprise of the nurses at the blood drawing station), a heart check and a chest X-ray.  His growth is good, his weight gain was a bit slower, but I've been sick, so it is to be somewhat expected.  I'm thinking about improvising a neti pot to clear out my sinuses.

Ok, off to wrap the presents we got from Grandpa in the mail today.

Oh and if you are the praying sort, pray for a turned baby.

Hubby Tag

Friday, December 5, 2008

This was a super cute tag, so yeah I'm going to do it.  I mean, who doesn't want to gush about their hubby?

What is your husband’s name? 007 - Righteous Tree(translated version of his name)

How long did you date? 6 months, 4 of those engaged...he was educated in Provo.

How old is he? 35

Who eats sweets? He LOVES them!  Always asking what is for desert.

Who said I love you first? He did, I didn't want to scare him off.

Who is taller? Him, but we're both pretty short.

Who can sing better? Neither of us.  We aren't tone deaf, but we are definitely choir voices.  I love it when he knows the bass part of hymns though.

Who is smarter? Probably me, but he is a smart cookie, and seems to catch on faster than I do a lot of the time.

Who does the laundry? I do, though on weekends he'll hang it up for me.

Who pays the bills? The bank, he automated it 'cause he knows what he's talking about.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do. Or he does...are we looking from the foot up or from the headboard down?  Headboard down, he does, foot up, I do.

Who mows the lawn? lawn? What is this lawn you speak of?  He does tend our front garden plot.

Who cooks dinner? I do on weekdays and he does on weekends and holidays.

Who drives? He has the driver's liscence, I don't, he's the de-facto driver.

Who is the first to admit they are wrong? It just depends.

Who kissed who first? He totally did.  It was right out of a 1940's movie, after our Disneyland date, swept me off my feet and gave me a nice warm kiss on a cold January night on a train platform before I had to hop on my train the other direction.

Who asked who out first? I did, I asked him to dinner at my dad's place.

Who wears the pants? Neither of us, we are indecisive.

Friends who should do this: All the married folks.  Especially the new Mrs. Heta if she reads it and is up for it.

P is for Pinkboots!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

REMEMBER : Two(or one depending on where you live) days left for your second baby guess.  Carefully read comments, and be specific on the month or I'll assign one to you.
Now onto our regularly unscheduled blogging.

Edamame, as you can see has chosen some pink boots to accessorize with for post-church outings.  He wanted to buy them all by himself.

The more pressing matter of present is his preference for the letter P.  Aunt Pam and Grandpa P will be most pleased to perceive that our Pre-schooler can now recognize the premier letter of their name.  Wow, I'm pooped!

It's the only letter he recognizes, and he picked it off the fridge(we have that leap frog game where you press it and it sings a song).  I may be an English teacher, but I'm more of an unschooling kind of parent, so he's done this all on his own.  Once he realized that he could recognize it he's become obsessed with letters.  The next one he asked me about was 'L'(go Grandma!), and we've been reading one of our ABC books non-stop since, including first thing this morning, BEFORE breakfast.  He's even asking what letters as he does our ABC puzzle.

...remember, I'm an English teacher, that's why I have this stuff lying around.

Let the extra stuff begin!

Monday, December 1, 2008

That's right!  Anyone who has guessed for the baby day now has three days to add 1 more guess.  I bought a bunch of treats today, so it would behoove your stomach to make another guess.

On that note, I'm pooped.  007 took a sick day and it's been busy with laundry, vacuuming, trips everywhere, a stop by the optometrist, and everything else in between.

Pictures later.
