I am 9 months pregnant....if you count it Japanese style. It is always a month ahead of the European gestational counting system. Why is this cool? I feel like I've accomplished more and don't have as far to go for some odd reason. Yeah for using a lunar calendar(which Japan used to use in the past I believe).

2. Our baby monitor broke a few months ago. Edamame is old enough that we don't NEED one, but with the colder weather(closing the doors in the house to keep warmth in specific rooms, but it also muffles sound), and Brass Knuckles coming, we need to get a new set. Here is what I want!

In case you don't follow the link or can't read it, the cool thing about these bad boys is that they give you temperature readings for the room that the baby is in. Yeah there are cool ones that give have a video, blah blah, I'm not that anal, but it does get REALLY cold in this house, and the upstairs can get REALLY hot in the summer. I'm not sure what is available in other countries, I just thought this was a rad idea.

photo phun

Remember: Leave a comment somewhere for a baby guess. You only have 10 days left!

007 got some photos of the picnic from some of his coworkers/other attendees, I thought it'd be fun to share some of them. Oh and a sickness update, I don't think I'll get much worse, but Edamame feels really yucky. We watched Curious George ALL DAY LONG(nap time was Pride and Prejudice at least). Mormon. He started reading it right away, and he took the phrase "Feast upon the words of Christ" very seriously.

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} />

Then on Tuesday, as you already know I went to the Dr. and Obaachan and Michikobachan stayed here to play. Michikobachan(Aunt) also bought us an origami book. So far I've had to make some weird things. I've tried an Angel Fish, a crane, a rabbit, and a frog. I made the frog, went downstairs to get a camera, and right before I was back I hear a giant ripping noise. Doh! So I had to make another one.

Thursday, we got a package from grandma! Woo hoo! besides cookies, and some Christmas presents, Edamame also got some very warm pajamas. He LOVES them, and even though it is a crappy picture taken with my iPhone you can see him looking out the window to look at the moon and compare it to the ones on his PJs.

<a onblur="try />

What Saturday would be complete without an adventure. This time we had a picnic with some of 007's co-workers and got to play in the grass. Oh, and some delicious krispy kreme donuts, from the 4th store to open in Japan. Ohhhhh yeah! The rest of the food was sparse, so it helped a lot, but we did eat much more substantially at home. Here are the picnic highlights, throwing balls and playing on rocks.

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" Sunday, the day we get gussied up and learn at church. Remember, I spoke of a dress I'd made. Well I finally got a picture. I've run into some problems with the buttons, they were sewn on pre-bump/body-milk-prep so they are starting to pop off. I'll have to move them an inch or so to the right to get it to work.
<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} else. Edamame has begun putting things behind his back and saying "It's gone!" if he doesn't want us to take something away. He's also begun requesting various languages for communicating. We've had 'nihongo' time at lunch for a few days, or at other times, 'no nihongo'. Tonight for bed he requested an 'English book'.

Ok, enough appointments, and digging that head into my hip, so no worries about a breech baby. Go go magic baby growing machine!

Edamame: Sleeping, thank goodness! His lip is almost 100% healed. His favorite new thing to say is "I need it, NOW!" especially when it comes to things we don't want him to have/eat. He is also becoming a big fan of "I do it myself". On the neat side of things he can sing I am a child of God in English and Japanese, Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC, Oh Christmas Tree, and we're now working on Angels we have Heard on High.

<br Getting uncomfortable, but fortunately can't over stuff myself because my stomach is too squished now. My plans for this week are sewing projects, and being a lazy butt. My MIL and her sister were over today, and did all the dishes while I put Edamame down for the aforementioned nap, so I am in heaven! Oh and I'm excited for Thanksgiving! I've been researching recipes online.

<span class="Apple-style-span" weekend.

<span class="Apple-style-span" ward from Peru, their kids were born here, but their first language was Spanish. They are starting to learn Japanese at school, but it is still pretty new. Edamame, who's English is much stronger than his Japanese now, and the 4 year old were drawing together during Sacrament and it was so cute to see them communicating in Japanese. Who'd have thought a Peruvian and American would be using Japanese as their Lingua Franca? What a world we live in!

Oh, and kindergarden starts when you're three or four here(three year or two year href="http://cryingoverspiltmilk.blogspot.com/">Queen Scarlet and it looked like a lot of fun. I am doing it in the evening, so it'll be a bit different.

1. My kitchen sink - I just did the dishes, not because of the post, but because the boys were in the bath, and that is when I wash dishes. Notice the milk carton, I have to wash it before we recycle it.

2. My favorite room - I like the color 007 painted it, it stays warm in the winter, it is where we play, fold laundry, get dressed, etc. I just moved Edamame's books to the bedroom a month ago, but before that, all of those were in here too. This was our bedroom when we were newlyweds.

3. Me right now - dunno what to say, just me blogging.

4. My closet - look at ALL the space I have. Now don't you feel blessed? For some reason 007 gets two closets and I get one.

5. The fridge - Lots of stuff on it, Edamame usually pulls all the magnets off.

6. The Laundry Room - It looks messy 'cause the boys threw their clothes off for bath time. This is also where we brush our teeth and stuff.

7. My favorite shoes - they are comfy, but a bit cold for winter. I'm so glad San Diego introduced me to these.

8. What my kids are doing right now - Edamame is taking a bath with 007. In Japan dads almost always take a bath with their kids if they are home in time. It is our weekend tradition.

Brass Knuckles is gestating, and making life generally uncomfortable for me.

9. My bathroom - brand new! I love this toilet. It has a bidet feature...sweeeeeet.

10. My dream vacation - Sorry no pics, I want to take my new family to Europe and tour them around!

I shall tag

kim & for a two year old, but I get a total kick out of two things he's been doing lately. First, he pretends to be someone or something else ALL DAY LONG. Last week it was his cousins, Friday we were 'puppy', 'frog' and 'lion'(he'll even use this names when we wake up and say 'good morning frog', etc.), yesterday was dinosaurs and today we are all cats. The second thing is snoring. He has discovered, probably from playing with me or observing 007 sleep, that snoring = sleeping. Last night as we were putting him to bed, with his eyes wide open he starts going making fake snoring sounds with the funniest face. We were laughing so hard. Once daddy left though, he turned back into a cat, nyeowing(it's a cross between English meow and Japanese nyan) until he fell asleep.

<link of you may remember the guessing game we had when Edamame was born. It was fun, so let's do it again. If you win, I'll send you some of my favorite Japanese candy, don't worry it isn't sugar coated seaweed or anything like that.

Here are the rules.

Starting on November 1st until November 30th each person gets to submit 1, count 'em, one, guess for a birthday for Brass Knuckles. All submissions in by midnight your own time. I sincerely hope you aren't up that late though. If, in the highly likely chance, there are days open you may submit a SECOND guess between Dec 1st and Dec 3rd. Once again, this is for second guesses only, if you didn't get a first guess in, well, you loose out. The winner will be announced sometime shortly after the baby arrives. Be nice though people, I have to stay in the hospital for 5 days, no matter what....grr, so it'll take a bit of time to announce and to send off a package. You will get it though. To guess send email or comment anywhere on the blog, and give me a two letter initial you want to be known by. Whoever is time stamped first gets that day. Sorry my dad automatically got his birthday for his guess, them be the rules.

Some Hints and Advice.

Now we all know how worthwhile a due date is, right? Not very. Anyway, my due date is Dec 31st, but the hospital wants to think it is January 2nd. That means I could 'pop' anywhere between December 10th(37 weeks) and January 16th(end of 42 weeks). Induction would probably happen by January 14th or so, if we go that far. I will start trying home remedies like eggplant parmesan or green papaya after Christmas, no castor oil though. To give you an idea, Edamame was only 3 days post due. Though in an historical context, I was 1 day post due, and my sister was 2 weeks late, so it's your call. This kid has also typically been measuring large in ultrasounds. This could mean nothing, or it could mean I'm in for an early but long labor.

update: I put this in the comments, but I'll put it here too. The Full moons are on Dec 13th and January 11th, the New Moon is on Dec 27th. Edamame was born on a full moon.

Best of luck to all of you, and I hope one of the earlier guesses wins!

Count Your blessings!

Edamame has this book that I hate! Why? I don't like the art and the name of the main character is 'cuddlebear'. I mean, come on? can't you think of a better name than that??? Nevertheless it teaches some good things about blessings, and so I've been thinking about what my blessings are. I'm gonna list the ones I've been thinking of, not to brag, but so I can think about them, and you can think about your own blessings. Feel free to share too. This is not a top ten by the way.

1. Rhogam shot. I can have healthy RH positive babies despite my RH negative blood. Thank you science!

2. A God who gave me the desire, and parents who gave me the opportunities to learn foreign languages. I met a lady yesterday who has lived here for 4 years and still doesn't speak Japanese. I'm so glad I can communicate!

3. Brass Knuckles, it's nice that he is always willing to enthusiastically let me know he's still doing ok in there.

4. A husband who knows when to say sorry. I LOVE YOU!

5. A love of reading, and an iPhone that I can read with. Thank you eReader!

6. Parents who taught me to understand science, I may not have majored in it, but the world is a lot easier to understand because of it.

7. Halloween Party for Primary on Saturday. We get to dress up, and it won't be a crazy hooplah like in the US.

8. Not being in the US during a Presidential Election. I get to research and vote, but without a lot of the bad feelings, political commercials and phone calls.

9. An awesome mother in law, that loves me for me, and isn't afraid of me because I'm from a different country. すばらしぎりのお母さんに感謝します！

10. Awesome parents, that despite the fact that I am almost 30, still do so much for me, and love me!

11. Edamame can now do nursery without me, and he'll even eat his food too. Double whammy because that means we won't have to do so many of the meetings during the week where he looses his nap because I'll be able to talk with the rest of the Presidency during Sunday School!

12. Hanging laundry, a house that is cold in the winter and stuffy in the summer, and not knowing what to make for dinner tonight. It means that we have clothes, a home, and food, and don't have to worry about it! Thank you Heavenly Father!

Ok, I'm done. You're turn if you want to.

P.s. I thought of two more tonight

13. Going to Institute for the first time. Just a bunch of old and young house wives, and some kids, but it is great to get out of the house and learn some Gospel words

14. A son who misses me as much as I miss him when I'm gone for a few hours. I love being able to cuddle my little guy!

Visitors and Points of Interest

We got some surprise visitors starting Friday afternoon. Let me introduce them.

'Aunt Pam' has also made an appearance but seems to have a very deep voice, facial hair and looks surprisingly like a Japanese man named 007. Edamame has even taken to calling me 'Andi' when he's crying or when he wakes up in the morning. Here are the real people. In case you were wondering.

Also Edamame has chosen to make me into a liar. How so? I was gabbing with my sister last weekend talking about how he won't eat salad and doesn't use the pronoun 'I'. I wasn't worried about either, but it just came up somehow. Lo and behold THAT night he starts wolfing down my salad, and has kept it up ALL WEEK LONG. Then sometime this week he starts saying 'I'. Like 'I need a hug' or 'I want ____.' Even 007 has noticed it. Oh and one more lying moment. We had the now famous Emily & Mark over so they could have a reprieve from crazy food, and I told them 'yeah, Edamame won't eat soup'. He hasn't liked it before, but what does he do? Start stealing mine in the middle of dinner. Albeit half of it was on his shirt, but he was eating it. I like these kind of lies.

Other little updates, Edamame made it through nursery ALL BY HIMSELF, including snack time. Good job little guy. I gave a rockin' sharing time. We have plans to go to the ramen museum this week, and the zoo next. The halloween party is coming together nicely. I'm feeling happier, even after Edamame breaking a bowl this morning. Adzuki/Jorge/Brass Knuckles has a bunch of clean clothes now(but still no name). I forgot to take pictures, but my maternity Jane Austen dress looks RAD! And now I'll sign off for some quality time. Ciao!

HDTV Podcast

So this is a week old story but it was somewhat exciting. One of many podcast that I listen to is HDTV Podcast (iTune Link Here). On last week's episode (#320), about at 7:45 they read email I sent in about Vizio TV sales in Japan. So if you want to listen to it, you can download it on iTunes using the link above, or you can listen to it on their website.
If you are interested in Home Theater and other technology stuff, this is a pretty good podcast.
